Not all belts are the same:
What makes a Safe-Strap®, seat belt better? Durability, material construction, break resistance, longevity, quality, design, performance in adverse weather conditions and different climates, UV performance, ease of installation, and commercial grade integrity.
The retailer requirement:
To be compliant with ASTM F2372, shopping carts with a child seating area are required to have a working restraint. *Carts that do not have a working restraint are required to be taken out of service until corrective action can be completed.* Using a durable and high quality Safe-Strap® brand restraint makes this requirement easy and more cost effective.
Safe-Strap® goes beyond:
Safe-Strap® performs in-house testing as well as with accredited third-party labs to certify installation on every make and model shopping cart. For your convenience the correct anchor-point for every model shopping cart is illustrated in the installation instructions that ships free of charge with each order of restraints.
Options to suit your needs:
All our Safe-Strap® seat belts are made in the USA. You are only limited by your imagination when it comes to colors, custom logos, or even custom messages!
- “Polypropylene” which is the most economical belt we sell – fully compliant with all regulations and made to last.
- “5-panel nylon” which incorporates high-tech nylon fibers and special die pigment, which is engineered for durability, UV resistance to fading, abrasion, and has superior longevity.
- Teflon™ protective coating keeps the belts looking cleaner for longer in your store.
- “Pictogram” style which is also how we can incorporate custom logos, messages, or prints. This style provides parents with necessary safety messages each time they shop because the message is printed onto each seat belt, so every cart has its own warning message. Falls from shopping carts cause serious head injuries to children
Every year, thousands of children are treated in US hospital emergency rooms for falls from shopping carts. Falls from shopping carts are among the leading causes of head injuries to young children and most often occur when children stand up in the child seat or the cart basket.
Couponing: seat belts make shopping carts safe for kids
In a recent column I wrote about important changes that have shaped the way you and I shop for groceries, today. One of them was the invention of the supermarket shopping cart in 1936. However, something had to be added to make the cart complete, the child’s seat belt.
Shopping cart injuries in children
Shopping cart related accidents involving children are extremely common and can result in severe injury or even death. Because of the high number of injuries, voluntary shopping cart safety standards were introduced in the United States in 2004. Unfortunately, research shows that such standards have done little good when it comes to protecting children; in fact, the injury rate has continued to climb.
Mom warns parents after shopping cart fall results in $12k hospital bill
Brooke Lehman posted the video on her social media platforms, and it amassed more than 1 million views on TikTok alone. In a video she shared in late July 2021, Lehman explained that her child fractured her skull after falling out of a shopping cart and urged parents to be cautious and to strap their children in when they are seated in the cart.
Shopping cart danger: 66 kids hurt a day, study finds
The combination of kids and shopping carts is never easy, as any parent of a squirmy toddler knows, but a new study confirms it’s also dangerous, with an estimated 66 children a day in the U.S. hurt in falls and spills. That’s one child injured badly enough every 22 minutes to go to the emergency room, or more than 24,000 children a year, according to research from Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Shopping cart safety
Parents take their children with them on shopping trips every day. However, it is difficult to look at the shelves and closely watch a child at the same time, and thousands of children are injured every year from riding in shopping carts. Injuries can and do happen in the time it takes for you to reach for something on the shelf. Knowing the risks and following shopping cart safety tips can help to prevent injuries while at the store.
